Florida Forum Lecture Series Welcomes Four Distinguished Speakers
2005-2006 Lecture Series
Jacksonville, FL., May 9, 2005 - Some of the world's most widely known public figures will come to
Jacksonville for the 14th season of the Florida Forum, a lecture series benefiting Wolfson Children's Hospital.
For the first time in the history of the Florida Forum, the lineup for the 2005/2006 series features four
world-renowned figures in politics and history:
General Colin Powell USA (Ret.), former Senator Bob Dole, broadcast journalist Bill O'Reilly, and Pulitzer
Prize winning historian and biographer, David McCullough.

of Wolfson Children's Hospital, this Florida Forum offers a strong slate of four
speakers that promises to entertain inform and inspire audiences.
The season begins October 11, with a lecture by General Colin Powell who served as the 65th Secretary of State from
January 2001, until January 2005. Gen. Powell attained the rank of Four-Star General and served as Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-1993).
Former Senator Bob Dole follows on November 9, 2005. Dole is recognized as one of the United States most
prominent political figures of our times. As Chairman of the National World War II Memorial and author of two
best-selling books, Senator Dole makes his latest contribution to the country with the publication of his personal
World War II memoirs, One Soldier's Story.
Bill O'Reilly, host of the top-rated The O'Reilly Factor and The Radio Factor, will lecture on January 21, 2006.
For 25 years Mr. O'Reilly has worked as a broadcast journalist and now hosts the cable television news show.
He has won two Emmy Awards for excellence in reporting, and worked as a national correspondent for ABC News.
A distinguished Pulitzer Prize winning historian and biographer, David McCullough will finish the series on
February 21, 2006. Mr. McCullough is renowned for his extraordinary ability to write about persons and events of
historical significance in a highly readable yet scholarly manner. Mr. McCullough is the author of highly acclaimed
American biographies such as; John Adams, Truman, and his newest book, 1776. Mr. McCullough is twice winner of the
Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award and also the prestigious Francis Parkman Prize.
All lectures will be at the
Florida Theatre, 128 E. Forsyth St., downtown Jacksonville, and will begin at 7 p.m.
Audience members will be able to pose questions at the brief question-and-answer sessions held after each
lecture concludes. All proceeds from the series will benefit the new Children's Emergency Center at Wolfson
Children's Hospital. Several packages for series subscriptions are available.
