Wolfson Children’s Hospital begins CarePages program
Web-based program allows families to stay connected during hospital stay
Jacksonville, Fl., March 10, 2005 - Patients at Wolfson Children's Hospital are among the first in this region to
have access to an innovative new tool for staying in touch with family and friends while they are in the hospital, and
even after they go home.
Wolfson recently added a new Internet-based communications system called CarePages, as a free service for patients. The CarePage service helps patients and their families set up personalized websites that update relatives
and friends without the need for repeated phone calls. CarePages also make it possible for relatives and friends to
send messages of encouragement, giving patients and families emotional support.
"This is one more example of our commitment to deliver the best and most comprehensive services to our patients,"
said
Larry Freeman, administrator of Wolfson Children's Hospital. "We are constantly looking for the latest ideas
in improving overall patient satisfaction. This especially includes providing for the emotional support of our
patients and their families. We are delighted to be among the first to offer this service."
Baptist Health subscribes to the service from TLContact, Inc., the company that developed CarePages.
TLContact and Wolfson have worked together to integrate the service with Wolfson's own website.
Additionally, TLContact provides Wolfson with all on-going technical and customer support.
Patients and families praise CarePages for the benefits they provide. Families say CarePages give them greater control over the flow of information during and after hospitalization, since they can share updates at a time that is right for them. Relatives and friends are automatically notified via e-mail whenever CarePages are updated.
"We are pleased that Wolfson Children's Hospital chose CarePages to complement its ongoing efforts to help patients and their families," said Eric Langshur, CEO of TLContact, Inc.
"CarePages are unique in their ability to form a strong bond between patients, families, friends and the hospital providing care."
In addition to giving patients and families emotional support, CarePages make it possible for families to help the hospital in return. Through CarePages, patients and families can recognize staff members who have provided superior levels of care and can elect to support the hospital's foundation and volunteer organizations.
Wolfson provides CarePages for as long as patients and families require. CarePages are password-protected, secure and comply with all patient privacy regulations. Over 50 leading hospitals in North America now offer CarePages, with several new hospitals adding the service each month.
