Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson
It is estimated that more than 60,000 people with asthma live in the greater Jacksonville area, 10,000 of whom are uninsured. African Americans have been hit especially hard in our area; they are more than twice as likely to die from the disease as Caucasians and more than three times more likely to visit an emergency room.
To address this epidemic in our area, the Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson (CAP-W) is committed to improving asthma awareness, education, access and the standard of care locally.
CAP-W is comprised of local hospitals, the Duval County Health Department, and pediatric and adult pulmonologists and allergists, who collaborate in this grassroots program.
